Back 1967 when Chevrolet rolled out the first generation Camaro it could seat two adults and three kids comfortably and get them from point A to point B on a daily basis. Today’s Camaro enthusiast would freak out if he had to use the classic ride as the family’s daily form of transportation. And just the thought of having kids in the back seat eating ice cream would make any Camaro collector cringe.

“I got into cars when I was going to Damien High School,” said Moki Kim who works as an aircraft technician. “Around that time I drove a 1977 Chevrolet Nova Police Special. I pulled the engine and had it modified. Then I painted the it, and I had it for a while before I had to sell it to buy a family van.”

For the next 20 plus years as Kim tended to his family he pondered as to what his kind of hot rod he would get and what would it look like. And when he thought about a Camaro the ‘68 Z/28 with a 302 engine is what came to mind. But finding one is rare, and one in pristine condition would probably run six figures.

“A couple years ago we went to visit my brother in Seattle and I was talking about getting a Camaro, and he said what are you waiting for? And I went through the whole thing that one son is in high school and the other is in college,” explained Kim. “And he said that you’re going to get too old, you won’t be able to work on the car and not be able to enjoy it. Get the car.”

After returning home Mrs. Kim told Mr. Kim to starting looking for a car and it didn’t take long before he bought this 1968 Camaro RS from Illinois. Aside from a flat cam and installing discs brakes this is the condition Kim received the car. Kim has plans to drop in a 396 big block that’s already at Snyder Engine Works being rebuilt.
