The first-generation Honda S2000, aka the AP1, is considered one of the best handling roadsters ever created. For Jarred Sagadraca, it’s his dream car. He’s taken this bone-stock ‘00 S2000 from a being “Plain Jane” to being a ride of serious envy.
Born and raised in Wailuku, this Maui-born young man has always had an affinity for getting around fast on dirt-bikes in the mountains while pig-hunting. With time, this slowly transitioned into enjoying imports, which included Hondas and Nissans. And soon enough, Sagadraca knew exactly what he would do if he ever got his hands on a S2000.
In addition to owning a S2000, it was important to Sagadraca to represent the Hawaii Chapter of Team NVüS. Established in 2011, Sagadraca was introduced to the national crew by his cousin and has since become the Chapter Lead for Hawaii. When the opportunity arose, he put his goals out there and began lining them up one by one to make them.
The first step was wheels. MB Motoring Battle Wheels were purchased and fitted alongside a full set of Skunk2 Pro Series coilovers. Then after deployment, Sagadraca returned with some fresh cash and began to go full blast on modifications. A huge selection of exterior components were purchased including a JDP CF duckbill, CF RX7 side skirts, ASM Front bumper and CF lip and a Mugen style hardtop. At the time, this ride was silver but after installation of all of the new exterior mods, it was then coated in a sublime Pearl White thanks to Curtis “Kulika” Correa, Jr. of JS4KIX.
The interior features Bride Low Max seats to snugly hold its occupants in place. A Cusco roll bar is fitted with Takata harnesses while a Downstar shift knob is fitted for easily handled shifts. Along with the aforementioned Mugen hard top, the car now is streamlined in looks and sexy in the handling.
The 1,9997CC inline-four cylinder is known for being peppy, and this ride’s performance has been enhanced with a J’s Racing intake, Ballade Sports radiator and high-flow cat mated to an Invidia Q300 exhaust. Additional performance and dress-up items include a J’s Racing cooling plate, Password JDM heat shield, and Downstar dress bolts. Although not a high horsepower build, it’s more than enough to get this 2,800-pound ride around the corners with gusto.
Sagadraca isn’t finished but for now this ride is testament to what can happen when you set your sights on putting together a quality build.
