For Lynn Quizon, her journey into the automotive world began with the purchase of Hyundai Genesis coupe several years ago. Together with her boyfriend, Justin Allen, she began to modify the vehicle with the basics. During a routine oil change, her eyes became fixated on the 2013 sedan version and, on a whim, she upgraded to the sexy, svelte luxury version of the Genesis. Since then, she has been on a mission to raise the bar for the Hyundai VIP scene.
The first steps taken were to install a set of Air Force air bags to achieve her desired stance. Installed by Marcus Sakamoto, the set was a direct bolt-on and chosen because no other applications existed for the vehicle. The amount of work required was phenomenal, requiring removal of the interior just to run the air lines front and rear. The end result was a manual switch setup capable of dropping the ride to a level necessary to complement the 19-inch Work Wheels Emotion CR Ultimate Kiwamis adorned by Achilles Radial Tires.
Being able to build the ride together was important to Quizon and Allen. With the help of Youtube videos as reference, the duo crafted a custom diamond-stitched rear trunk treatment for the air suspension components. The end result is scintillating, full of black leather and shiny jeweled baubles gracing a Plexiglas display with glowing purple LEDs.
In addition to the suspension setup, the exterior look includes a custom-made, one-off fiberglass front lip and rear splitters hand-laid by the couple. Purple LEDs grace the immaculate chrome grill while white puddle lights deliver some illumination to the sides. Even the fog lights have been given a purple luster thanks to the tinted iridescent covers. Adding more curb appeal to the look of the ride are chrome pillars as well as stylish roof and trunk spoilers.
In addition to wood floor mats, Allen was responsible for building the custom center and rear console VIP trays. A Lexicon 14-speaker surround system also was added for some luxurious sound while various accessories from Junction Produce are liberally placed around the cabin.
Engine wise, the ride has been given some growl with a custom dual Flowmaster exhaust system installed by DJ’s Motorports. Painted engines help add a bit of flair to the bay.
“The whole thing with this car was to do it ourselves,” Quizon said. “It’s built, not bought.”
