Opening reception

A free reception for the In Hawaii exhibit will be held at the South Hotel Street museum sculpture lobby from 6 to 9 p.m. It will feature artworks from the Art in Public Places Collection of the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts and a fashion show. The Friends of the Hawai‘i State Art Museum will be hosting a bar with wine and beer. Valet parking will be available at the Richards Street entrance to the building.

The museum school will feature this event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This event will give attendees the chance to glaze a ceramic tea bowl under the direction of Hawaii Craftsmen members, and watch it being fired using the Raku process. Open to the public, there is a $15 materials fee per bowl for this activity. In addition, there will be a free panel discussion by curated artists in the school’s main gallery from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.
