The triangle choke is one of the most effective submissions in MMA. From your back, you can shoot your legs up, catching the opponent’s head and one arm between your thighs. But getting there is just the start. Finishing the choke is most important. First, get your top leg behind the opponent’s neck, not angled down his back. Choke his neck, not his back! Pull the opponent’s head down to control his posture and help constrict the carotid arteries. Pull your toes back towards you as that causes your calves to flex and further constrict the opponent’s neck. Put these together and you can finish your triangle choke against a strong opponent.
