Logitech G Pro X is a complete package for gamers

Big ear cups, a metal frame and leather headband: Those key features make up some of the best gaming headsets on the market. It’s a build that’s been tried and tested by several companies to great effect. Beyerdynamic, Corsair and Sennheiser all have a take on the design, but it’s that Kingston popularized it with the HyperX Cloud.
Taking note of that success, Logitech is trying its hand at producing similarly styled headset, the Logitech G Pro X. Although it looks similar to the HyperX Cloud, the insides and software are what separate the Pro X from its rival. Logitech’s cans boast its own Pro-G 50 mm drivers and its G Hub support.
Built with a unique mesh material, the driver offers booming audio without suffering much distortion. That translates to bigger explosions that don’t crackle as players turn the sound up. The audio that the Pro X produces is richer with a heavy bass that adds a thudding impact to punches or broad rumble to car engines.
The sound that the Pro X produces is rounder, but that doesn’t mean it can’t handle the subtle audio in the mids and highs. Players can pick out elements such as the sound of running water if it’s in the distance. The sharp peal of a bell knifes through loud gunfire.
For competitive gaming, players can tune the audio through G Hub so that opponents footsteps become more noticeable. Although that sound doesn’t have the same realism, the adjusted audio comes through crystal clear as does anything that’s pumped through the ear cups.
On the software end, G Hub has improved considerably since its introduction last year. The app is easier to use, has fewer bugs and makes setting up the headset on PC easier than other devices. What’s great about the program is that it allows players to easily share their own EQ settings, and because of Logitech’s partnership with esports teams such as Team SoloMid, users can pick out the audio setting of their favorite players so they can hear the game in the same way they do.
Sharing and finding new ones is as easy as scanning a menu of options though it would be nice for Logitech to add more options in future updates. Also keep in mind, a USB dongle that houses a sound card is needed to access these options and DTS:X 2.0 audio.
The other notable element in G Hub is the Blue Voice support. Logitech bought Blue Microphones, the makers of the popular Yeti brand, last year and included some of its technology on the G Hub side of things. The Blue feature lets players create their own voice filters so that they can disguise their voice, make it deeper or clear up their audio while they stream or produce other forms of content.
Using Blue Voice is as easy as modifying the EQ presets on the microphone side. Players can choose filters that can soften a voice or make it sound like it’s from an AM radio. There’s even options to pick filters from pro esports competitors.
The last part of what makes the Pro X a great headset is the build quality and extras. Because it takes a cue from comparable models, the design is exceptionally comfortable. The memory foam cushions the head well. Meanwhile, the Pro X’s steel band and aluminum forks don’t put a lot of pressure on the head. It’s a headset that gamers can wear for marathon sessions on stream or short stints. As for the style, the minimalist design looks sleek and refined. Everything from the left and right markings written in the ear cups to the metal accents make these set of cans look professional. Gamers will stand out on stream or at a LAN without looking cartoonish.
Lastly, Logitech included a bevy of cables and add-ons with the $129 Pro version. Users can choose between leatherette ear cups or cloth ones. They both have the same memory foam with the leatherette offering a better seal and noise isolation while the cloth offers good comfort without the headset sticking to the skin. In addition, the Pro X has braided and silicon cords as well as a removable microphone and a Y splitter cable. All of the extras can be stuffed into a carrying bag.
It’s a complete and versatile package for gamers. For console players, they can use it for normal play. For streamers, it’s a headset that’s comfortable to wear while providing excellent sound and microphone support. Online competitors will like the option to tweak the EQ settings to bring up the subtle sounds such as footsteps. The Logitech G Pro X has the tools to accommodate different uses cases with the style to make players look good while gaming.
