Jarryd Ercanbrack may hail from a family of automotive enthusiasts, but his interest in trucks — and specifically, this week’s featured ride, a 1993 Nissan Hardbody — comes directly from his late brother Jayden, whose life was tragically cut short in a car accident three years ago.
Here’s the story: Jayden actually purchased a similar truck for Jarryd before his passing. Following Jayden’s death, Jarryd sold that truck in order to finance the completion of his brother’s truck in memoriam. “The brother gave him one truck like this, but Jarryd sold it so we could buy all the parts to finish Jayden’s truck,” explained the boys’ father, Mike.
Once he finished his brother’s vehicle, Jarryd felt the need to build his own twin hardbody. Eventually, this week’s featured ride was sourced and then built — all with brotherly love in mind.
The primered truck was initially in bad shape, and desperately required extensive bodywork. Father and son worked on the body for a month and then brought the truck to Bill’s Chop Shop for a black paint job inlaid with red flake, which happened to be Jayden’s favorite color.
With the body ready, the accents were leveled up. A stunning chrome grill and bumper were swapped in, as were new (blinding) HID headlights and LED detail tail lights. The rear tailgate was upgraded with an OEM version. Additional touches include new polished exhaust tips plus a new rear bumper. Infiniti Q45 wheels have been installed for a bit more polish as well.
One peek into the bed will reveal a stunning bit of craftsmanship. Hand-built and stained by Mike, the bed features custom wood-paneled flooring in a gorgeous candy red tint. The amazing thing is that it only took Jarryd and his dad two days to complete the installation.
Al’s Upholstery is responsible for crafting the gorgeous interior. Chosen once again thanks to Jayden’s favorite colors, it really is amazingly well done. The entire interior has been customized with a red and black theme that stands out. The speaker system is packed with three 6x9s along the bottom door panels on both sides while also featuring a 10-inch subwoofer hidden behind the seats.
All in all, this truck is an example of family love and attention to detail.
