United MMA celebrates its grand opening with a free event for the public. Check it out at 94-530 Ukee St. from 1 to 4 p.m. 93.1 FM will be broadcasting live. Speaking of United MMA, Angela Lee (daughter of owner Ken) defeated Monica Franco at Destiny’s MMA’s Na Koa VI and also took home “Performance of the Night” … Also winners on the card were Jason Recamara (def. Mark Ballocanog), Kai Boy Kamaka (def. Nui Wheeler), Ryan Dela Cruz (def. Kawika Martin), and Zane Kamaka (def. Chris Aparicio) who also won “KO of the Night” … Huge congratulations to yet another local fighter who made her way into the UFC circuit. Kailin Curran, former PXC strawweight contender, makes her UFC debt Oct. 4 … Also coming up on the local circuit is Ring of Fire: Battle of the Pacific 2 taking place Aug. 23 at Blaisdell Arena. Team Hawaii takes on Team California for this International Kickboxing Federation title challenge. Tickets are $19.50, $32.50 or $60.
