UFC star Georges St. Pierre has knee surgery
Former UFC champion Georges St. Pierre has undergone knee surgery and plans to spend the next three months rehabbing in Los Angeles.
The 32-year-old mixed martial arts star from Montreal tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during training.
He had surgery Wednesday in Los Angeles. He had reconstructive surgery on the other knee in December 2011. There is no timetable for his return.
He told The Canadian Press on Thursday: “I climbed Everest once before and I’m going to climb it again — if I want to … Anyway I didn’t plan to come back to competition before 2015.”
St. Pierre (25-2) vacated his 170-pound title in December, saying he needed a break from the sport. But he kept training and hurt his knee during a workout.
